Welcome to Future Skill Academy
mY approach to Early Literacy: I use the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Method for K-5 reading intervention
OG Reading Intervention is:
➤ Systematic in Scope and Sequence
➤ Direct and Explicit
➤ Multisensory: Auditory, Visual, & Kinesthetic
➤ Cummulative with Interleaved Review
➤ Data-Driven (Assessment & regular Progress Monitoring)
OG is a methodology or way of teaching reading that helps children with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia. OG best serves Tier 2 & Tier 3 students. If your child is already receiving pullout services at your school, he/she is a good candidate for OG instruction. You do NOT need a formal diagnosis of a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) to benefit from OG instruction.

I am a K-5 reading interventionist and certified OG Practitioner, who is actively involved in the Seattle dyslexia community. I tutor privately, and for Hamlin Robinson School. I was trained by Carol Duke, former President of the International Dyslexia Association and current Managing Director of Mayerson Academy (now Hamilton County). My certification is both IDA (International Dyslexia Association) and IMSLEC (International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council) accredited. The rigorous coursework and 2 Practicums trained me well for Tier 2/3 OG instruction.
As a former research scientist, I was immediately drawn to the body of literature often referred to as the Science of Reading (SOR) when our son was diagnosed with a learning disability in 2nd grade. Now that I 'know better' I wants to 'do better', helping struggling students unlock their reading potential. I embrace American child psychologist Ross W Greene's philosophy that "kids do well if they can"....and firmly believe everyone deserves the right to read, especially children with language -based learning differences.
What Our Clients Say
"Holly has been outstanding to work with—for my son and for me. They have a great connection. Her approach is fun, engaging, and he always leaves their sessions feeling happy. We have seen significant growth in his confidence and abilities. Holly’s communication is excellent, always ready to explain the data behind his progress and her approach. We are so grateful for her support."

"I would highly recommend Holly to anyone looking for a kind and enthusiastic tutor. She did a fantastic job of keeping each lesson upbeat and engaging even though we were fully remote. I especially loved her ability to integrate the online “playground” into her lessons. Holly is a wonderful resource for any parent struggling with how to best help their dyslexic student! "
